FTX and Alameda Research wallets send $13.1M in crypto to exchanges overnight

A court-ordered liquidation process allows FTX to sell nearly $3.4 billion worth of crypto assets in weekly batches starting from $50 million a week. The crypto wallet s linked to now-defunct crypto exchange FTX and its sister trading firm Alameda Research have sent over $13 million in different altcoins to numerous crypto exchanges early on Nov. 1. According to data from on-chain analysis firm Spotonchain, the FTX wallet first transferred $8.12 million worth of altcoins to Coinbase. Coinbase launches perpetual futures trading to non-US retailers

Coinbase is extending its perpetual futures trading service to non-US retail clients, following a successful trial with institutional traders. Coinbase has announced the expansion of its perpetual futures trading service to non-US retail clients. This decision comes in the wake of observing over $5.5 billion in notional volume during the second quarter, predominantly from institutional trading. Coinbase had originally introduced its perpetual futures trading in May. However, this service was exclusively available to institutional investors located outside the United States. Fast forward to Sep. 28, and now, non-US retail traders can check their eligibility for this offering on the Coinbase Advanced platform. Coinbase holds 5% of all Bitcoin in existence: Data

While Coinbase holds $25 billion in BTC, the exchange only owns around $200 million worth of Bitcoin found in its wallets. Blockchain intelligence platform Arkham recently identified that crypto exchange Coinbase holds almost 1 million Bitcoin (BTC) in its wallets. The coins are worth more than $25 billion at current market prices for BTC.  According to Arkham, the exchange’s holdings amount to almost 5% of all Bitcoin that currently exists. Arkham said that Coinbase currently holds a total of 947,755 BTC. At the moment, Bitcoin’s circulating supply is around 19,493,537, according to coin information website CoinGecko. Arkham has now identified $25B of Coinbase Bitcoin reserves (~1M BTC) on chain. Over 25.5 million ethereum staked, more ETH holders withdrawing from exchanges

Attorney James Murphy mentioned that the U.S. SEC is alleging that Coinbase acted as an illegal unregistered securities exchange since 2019. However, it is important to note that, back in April 2021, the commission itself approved Coinbase’s application to go public. He highlighted that the U.S. SEC Chairman, Gary Gensler on May 6, 2021, testified ahead of Congress under the current law, that the agency does not hold authority to regulate crypto exchanges. Going with the testimony, Attorney suggests that the commission should lose its claims in court. The attorney added that the U.S. SEC chair’s testimony was entirely correct.
