No, Bitcoin withdrawals from exchanges are not inherently bullish for crypto

Image
Traders say the record-low number of BTC held on exchanges is a bull signal, but data suggests otherwise. Crypto analysts on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter) and in YouTube interviews have been abuzz with talk about the trend of Bitcoin leaving centralized exchanges. On Aug. 29, the quantity of Bitcoin (BTC) held within exchanges saw a decline, reaching its lowest point since January 2018. While various factors might underlie this movement, experts analyzing blockchain data often interpret the shift as a positive indicator. Traders are now questioning what might have been causing Bitcoin’s inability to break above $31,000 since this price action doesn’t align with their view that fewer coins on exchanges is bullish for the BTC price. The perspective on the decline of Bitcoin held at centralized exchanges stems from the notion that when traders withdraw their coins, it signals a bullish sentiment. This is typically associated with a strategy of holding assets in...

Bitcoin bulls risk trading range loss as BTC price nears 2-month lows

Image
Bitcoin almost breaks down from its sideways construction in place for months, and Bitcoin bulls are struggling to prop up the market. Bitcoin (BTC) targeted two-month lows on Aug. 17 as United States inflation returned to spook cryptocurrencymarkets. BTC/USD 1-hour chart. Source: TradingView BTC price teases exit from months-long corridor Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView confirmed the lowest BTC price levels since June 21 as BTC/USD wicked to $28,300. The downside came after the United States Federal Reserve published the minutes of its July meeting to discuss future monetary policy. Members of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) revealed concerns that inflation might remain elevated without further interest rate hikes — something risk assets did not wish to see going forward. “Participants discussed several risk-management considerations that could bear on future policy decisions,” the minutes read.  “With inflation still well above the Committee's longe...

Unibot maintains first-mover status among Telegram crypto trading bots

Image
Unibot price could be over-extended, but notable user base growth and real yields paid to token holders are a reflection of the project’s strong fundamentals. Unibot (UNIBOT) token was among the top crypto gainers in July as its price rallied by 400% in a month to reach an all-time high of $199.90 on July 28. The project defied the market’s negative trend as both Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) dropped by nearly 4%. However, by August 3, 2023, the token's price retraced 44% from its peak, leading to doubts about whether this surge was merely a fleeting trend. Nevertheless, it is essential to consider the project's fundamentals, which seem to suggest otherwise. The project is a harbinger of a newfound bullish narrative around decentralized Telegram bots for trading on DEXs. The total market capitalization of the sector surged above $150 million from around $20 million at the start of July, per Coingecko. While a number of copycats have launched in the market, Unibot has a dom...

Crypto retail trading should be regulated as gambling: UK lawmakers

Image
The volatility and purported lack of intrinsic value of most crypto assets make it particularly risky for consumers, the politicians claimed. The trading of so-called “unbacked cryptoassets” such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) should be regulated as gambling rather than a financial service, a panel of British lawmakers said in a new report.  The United Kingdom is currently working on a crypto regulatory framework that would mix existing financial asset laws with new crypto-specific rules. However, in a May 17 House of Commons Committee report, the U.K. Treasury Committee “strongly recommended” regulating retail crypto trading and investment activity as gambling, consistent with the principle of “same risk, same regulatory outcome.” Published today We’ve just published our report on cryptoassets, setting out our recommendations for the Government’s approach to regulating this market.
